Mark Stein autographed photo with an interesting history. It was taken by Tom Scharf who was working with Ted Nugent when he was with the Amboy Dukes. Tom says....

"I was loosely associated with Vince and the Vanilla Fudge back in '68 and '69 - and a long term fan. This association was created due to a tour the Fudge were on in the Summer of '68, which also included Jimi Hendrix, The Amboy Dukes (w/ Ted Nugent), and others. At that time I was closely associated with Ted Nugent, primarily as a friend and technical advisor/guitar technician. he "took literally thousands of pictures of all the groups concerned, The VF being one. " [Yeah? We can't wait! - Pete :-)] During this tour of the South in '68, I mainly came along with Ted's group and took literally thousands of pictures of all the groups concerned, The VF being one. Few people have ever seen these photos. They've never been made public.

Shortly after this tour concluded, I was drafted and enlisted in the Navy - in their electronics program. The first couple of years were spent in the Chicago area, where Ted Nugent's family also lived - Ted was based in Detroit.

Now we jump to 1969 - The Vanilla Fudge played a concert in Old Town (Chicago), where they were the top on the bill that also included Led Zeppelin and Jethro Tull (first US tour). I went to the concert in uniform carrying a photo album of some of the pictures that were taken, particularly of the Fudge. When I walked in the auditorium, Vince was standing near the entrance. He recognized me, even though my appearance was quite different, and invited me to the green room back stage. I had him and the other members of the band review the photos. One in particular I got Mark Stein to autograph."
